August Update

Hello everyone,

For those who aren't on our email list, here are the most current details on our space progress.

Our space on Philadelphia Street has yet to be completed, but we hope to be up and running soon. Renovations will hopefully be taking place sometime in the next few weeks.

Our current chair, Erin Casey, has served her two year term as board chair and will be moving on for Josh Carney to step in. Josh is the president of Carney Engineering Group here in York. (Look for an interview with him soon!)

We are currently looking for board members. Key positions include treasurer (CPA preferred, but not necessarily required) and individuals with experience in accounting, marketing, shop operations, and/or education and curriculum development. Interested candidates should email workingclassyork@gmail.com for consideration and more information. Prior non-profit board experience is a plus, but not a requirement. Passion about making is a requirement!

As many of you already know, in May of 2016 we received a grant from Penn State York through the INVENT Penn State program, a Commonwealth-wide initiative combining entrepreneurship-focused academic programs, business startup training and incubation, funding, and key regional partnerships. On August 9th, we attended a luncheon with Eric Barron, the president of the University, as a celebration of our partnership. The luncheon included a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Penn State York Campus, which was very exciting. We are thrilled to be working with the university and feel confident that together we will build the perfect learning environment in York.

Stay tuned for more happenings and progress. Be sure to frequently check out our website as we make lots of changes, and don't forget to follow us on all our social media accounts like FacebookInstagramTwitterPinterest, and LinkedIn.

Thank you for patiently sticking around with us as we get this project going. Your support is essential to our success.

Until next time,
The Working Class Team
